What's this?
Tkamixer is a front-end to the amixer utility,
which is part of alsa-utils package; as it's name suggests, it makes
easier to use mixers of soundcards supported by ALSA.
What for?
It did start as a Tcl/Tk exercise, turning
gradually into something more useful.
What does it offer?
- operating all of the available devices of MIXER type
- using all the (ALSA-supported) cards available in the computer
- setting the appearance according to individual taste (colour theme,
window size)
- setting the limit just to most frequently used regulators
- save/recall all of the mixer settings just with a single click
- can be used for batch-mode quick initialization of soundcard
- ...and that's it for today. Besides: what more one can expect from
mixer application?
What does it need?
- GNU/Linux OS
- alsa-utils package (as it has been said already: amixer
program)
- Tcl 8.x
- Tk 8.x
- ...and ALSA-supported soundcard(s).
